Uruguayan dairy farms underwent an important intensification process during the last decades. Although pasture-based grazing systems are still dominant, one important component of such intensification is the increase of extra-farm feed inputs, along with an increased stocking rate and an increased supplementation rate per cow. |

La producción de cítricos de Uruguay está orientada al consumo en fresco y exportación a mercados exigentes como EEUU y Europa. La presencia de semillas en los frutos es un factor que limita la competitividad al causar una importante desvalorización del producto. El Programa de Mejoramiento Genético de Citrus de Uruguay ha orientado esfuerzos hacia la obtención de variedades de mandarinas triploides (3x) las cuales no producen semillas. Para ello es necesario realizar cruzamientos interploides entre plantas tetraploides (4x) y diploides (2x), con el posterior rescate de embriones 3x mediante cultivo in vitro. El objetivo del trabajo fue obtener genotipos parentales 4x para la producción de genotipos 3x originales. |
